KACL Endowment Fund

In 2008 the KACL Charitable Agency Endowment Fund was established with the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation, in the hope that as the fund grew KACL would have the additional resources to support initiatives to build community, to enrich experiences and to provide learning opportunities.  Donations to KACL’s Endowment Fund are invested by the Community Foundation and the investment income, or dividends, are distributed to KACL on an annual basis.

The dividends are used to supplement underfunded and unfunded KACL programs and to support community building initiatives that promote KACL’s mission of social justice and belonging.  Over the years some of the funds have been used for KACL’s Annual Community Picnic, hosting learning opportunities open to the whole community, and providing funding to the CMHSS Wellness Project and the People First Christmas Dinner and Dance.

There are four ways to donate to KACL’s Charitable Agency Endowment Fund:

Donate online through the Community Foundation Donation Portal.

Please send your cheque or money order to The Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation at Box 441, Kenora, ON, P9N 3X4.

Donations are gladly accepted in person at our Central Office location at 501 8th Avenue South, Kenora.

If you are a KACL employee you can arrange with the payroll department to have contributions deducted automatically from each pay cheque.

Donating through the Community Foundation

In addition to KACL’s Charitable Agency Endowment Fund, you could also donate to other Community Foundation funds which have designated KACL as their dividend recipient.  Charitable Donation receipts will be given by the Community Foundation.  Any and all donations are appreciated.

These funds have designated KACL as their recipient:

  • The Dave Lilico Memorial Fund
  • The Retson Family Fund
  • The Strachan Family Fund
  • The Williams Family Fund

Thank you.  Your support will help individuals and their families to participate in community life, including chances to live, learn, work, enjoy recreation and contribute to an inclusive and caring community.

Land Acknowledgement

On behalf of the Board and Employees of KACL, the Board of Directors and Employees of KACL gratefully acknowledge that we live, work, enjoy the richness of and play on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe people of Treaty 3, and on the homeland of the Metis. We pay our respect to the First Nations and Metis ancestors of this place and reaffirm that the historic and current relationship that exists between us is defined by Treaty.

We commit to work to create the conditions for belonging and social justice so that each person can live fully in the unique identity that matters to them, in a community that accepts and welcomes. We recognize that our work must be in the service of Reconciliation. Our work must be at the level of the individual and the community, so that our collective identity as a community lives up to the values we want for ourselves and our children. A community where equity, peace, and respect for cultural differences are respected and nourished; and a community that acknowledges that the early Anisahinaabe people of these lands saw we were strangers, welcomed us as guests, and invited us to stay as neighbours.
