Art Partners is a pilot project organized by KACL. It ran from October through November 2006 and new groups are still being organized. Art Partners focuses on the visual arts and was held at the Kenora Recreation Centre. Interested participants didn’t have to bring any art skills or experience just the motivation to try, and explore various art mediums. There were/are four small art groups of approximately 8 participants.
The art directive was to visualize a community garden and detail its' majestic presence on canvas with acrylic paint. The small group worked quickly together to get the canvas covered. Meanwhile discussions among the group were made as to what images to add and change. Look closely you can see images such as, a dragonfly, butterflies, snakes, a snail, various flowers, a rainbow, a cockroach, a lady bug, frog, and birds. The group also did a fun ceremonial brush flick each at the end of the painting.
