Excerpts from Amendments to Letters patents passed March 26 1986
I. OBJECTS RELATING TO THE GENERAL ROLE OF THE ASSOCIATION IN THE COMMUNITY
(a) To promote, support and encourage persons with mental retardation and other handicaps, together with their families, with respect to individual development and integration into their communities;
(b) To advance the general welfare of all such persons in the District of Kenora;
(c) To co-operate with all other organizations, branches of government and individuals in advancing the interests of persons with mental retardation and other handicaps, and their families;
(d) To encourage and support medical and scientific research and study into the causes of mental retardation with a view to developing means of prevention, treatment, and alleviation;
(e) To develop a better understanding of handicapping conditions in the District of Kenora;
(f) To further the training and education of personnel in the field of mental retardation;
(g) To encourage and support persons with mental retardation and their families, friends, and advocates in advancing the rights and dignity of persons with handicaps in the District of Kenora;
II. OBJECTS RELATING TO THE DELIVERY OF SERVICES
(h) To establish, operate and maintain services for persons, either children or adults or both, with a developmental handicap or another handicapping condition, for the families, friends and advocates of such persons, and for the persons together with their families, friends, and advocates, which may include services to persons without a handicapping condition to accomplish the goal of integration, such services to include residential, vocational, nursery school, recreational, protective, family support, volunteer, behaviour management, transportation, health care, advocacy, and therapy services and other services for the benefit of such persons and their families, in the District of Kenora and in the surrounding area;
(i) To contract with governmental authorities and profit and non-profit Corporations in order to obtain funding for such services;
(j) To co-operate with other organizations and individuals in the delivery of such services;
