Kenora Association for Community living is a registered charitable organization and as such can give charitable tax receipts. Unless specified for specific reserves, charitable donations are used for various purposes of the Association all in furtherance of the Association' s mission (All Purpose Reserve and Surplus). Monies donated to the Association are spent for the purposes for which the Association was formed and are never returned to government funders. If they are not required in the year of the donation they are placed in reserves or general Surplus for spending in future years. Donations may be made to the Association for general purposes or may be ear marked for specific purposes of the a general nature. They can not be limited to one person. Below is listed a number of reserves that have been set up over the years. There may not be any funds currently in such reserves
The permanent endowment was set up in September 2008 and unlike all other reserves and funds are not help directly by the Association. The capital of the fund is administered by Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation and the Association does not have access to the capital. Donations to this fund are kept and only the annual income from the funds is delivered to KACL. For further information see KACL Permanent Foundation
The purpose of this reserve and surpluses of the Association is the achievement of the Association's mission goal of KACL: "to ensure that all people with special needs have the opportunity to live a meaningful and satisfying lifestyle and to interact as equals in their community by providing continuing opportunities for personal growth through education, training, support, advocacy and an informed public" in any ways saw fit by the Board of the Association.
The purpose of this reserve is to cover future capital, Building and Repair expenses of one of the Associated purchased residences. Any profits made in a year from rents for the residence are placed in this reserve.
The purpose of this reserve is to cover future property and equipment expenses associated with the KidsZone Program. Any profits from the rent charged to this program are placed in the reserve.
The purpose of this reserve is to provide or subsidize the costs of equipment and training for vocational and literacy training including computers, speech synthesizers and devices not covered by Government Funding.
The purpose of this reserve is to cover the costs of registration and travel for Consumers, Survivors and Family members to educational conferences or training events such as Down Syndrome and Autism Annual Conferences.
The purpose of this reserve is to cover all expenses not funded by Government Programs, including providing bursaries to permit additional children to attend the Association's Kids Zone (Day, After School or summer), to reward youth with disabilities involved in work training exercises, providing education to young consumers and family. This reserve covers registrations and travel expenses for consumers to attend conferences, workshops, courses and training events in and outside of Kenora.
The purpose of this reserve is to cover expenses of celebrating community living and the work of the Kenora Association in Kenora and surrounding district. The major event during the recent past has been the Community living picnic on or about June 24 each year. This reserve could also be used to hold specific donations donated for the express purposes of recreation, Christmas or Summer Dinners, Dances or similar events.
The purpose of this fund is to assist consumers who have temporary, needs which can not be met by Government funding. The monies may be given in the form of a loan to be repaid when possible or may be given as an outright gift to assist needy consumers. It is also used to assist with other charitable activities in which the consumers act as volunteers such as soup kitchens.
The purpose of this reserve is to support the international work of inclusion and support for persons with disabilities around the world. Purposes have included support to Association Nicaraguense para la Integration Comunitaria ASNIC to provide orthopedaedic shoes and hearing aids and other equipment to children having special needs and support for a Mexican Student to complete Disabilies Studies.
The purpose of this serve is to hold grants and donations that have been earmarked to support the Community Wellness Project, a non-funded project of the Kenora Association for Community Living geared to encouraging healthy Social, Recreational and Physical activities. The Program is not restricted to Consumers and Survivors served by KACL but is intended to subsidize participants having low income.
The purpose of this reserve is to fund various inclusive community development activities including Art Partners, Rise to the Rhythm, In the Key of Community, Coffee Shop (Jam Sessions), Word Weavers Ink, Photography Gardening and other similar non funded act ivies of the Association
The purpose of this reserve is to holds grants and donations dedicated to supporting inclusive participation in community Physical Recreation
The purpose of this reserve is to provide Bursaries and Scholarships for staff or pertsons seeking disabilities education.
Originally funded a $3400 grant from the Kenora Rotary Club the purpose of this reserve is to provide small micro loans for small business operated by consumers and survivors served by KACL.
